"Ballerina Baldness" is a term that may be unfamiliar to you. The origin of the phrase is derived from hair loss caused by the traditional pulled-back styling of ballerina buns, worn repeatedly by professional dancers. This and similar styles of tight, prolonged pulling of the hair is a major factor contributing to female Traction Alopecia. Men, thanks to the recent phenomenon of the man-bun, are also suffering similar consequences.

When experiencing hair loss or being concerned with the onset of hair thinning, the moment we feel the most anxiety is during the washing and styling of our hair. Why? Because seeing hair fall after washing is the exact moment we are reminded our hair is falling out. We can't miss the evidence. The strands wind up in our hands and collect in our drain. We see excessive hair loss after washing around the sink, the floor and piling onto our hair brush. It's a painful reminder of our hair loss condition and our minds race ahead of us with visions of losing more, and more hair.

We quickly, became moved by her experience, strength and most importantly, inner beauty. It was then we decided to share Colleen's story with our Follea Community. Feel free to share with anyone who is struggling with cancer and looking to wrap themselves around a group of strong, like-minded people.

When walking down the aisles of our local beauty store we women become excited with the possibilities! So many choices, yet so little money - what's a girl to do? And since most of us have a finite budget (Kim Kardashian excluded) we have to be prudent with the money we spend on products to stop hair loss.
