How To Get the Most Out of Your Human Hair Wig

When Jenn Brown decided to wear human hair wigs to cover her thinning hair, she knew she was ready for a change. Jenn had spent years devoting time and energy to hiding her hair loss, shying away from friends, family, and scrutiny, and declining invitations to be sociable. She realized it was time to stop feeling controlled by what hair she had or didn’t have on her scalp.

Styling a human hair wig

Jenn didn’t want her wig-wearing to be a taboo subject among her family and friends, and being open about it allowed her to feel comfortable regularly switching up her looks using multiple wigs. Jenn can be seen with long brunette locks and bangs one day and a shoulder-length, wavy blonde the next.

“When I first started wearing wigs I decided I wanted to be open and honest about my wig wearing with my friends and family. I knew I wanted to have fun with my wigs and I didn’t want to feel insecure if I was wearing a new color or a new style everyday,” says Jenn.

It is often assumed that wigs are restrictive and that you’ll be limited to wearing the same look day in, and day out. While it’s true that synthetic wigs can’t be styled, with proper care and maintenance, our human hair wigs can be styled in the same way as your bio hair. With a high-quality thermal protectant, you can curl, straighten and blow dry your wig. Achieving multiple looks with one wig gives you ultimate versatility and flexibility.x

Jenn explains, “I was done living with a secret and I wanted the people around me to feel comfortable complimenting me on my hair.”

For people not used to having a lot of hair, learning to style a wig may seem daunting. Indeed, seeing yourself in the mirror with more hair than you’re used to can be overwhelming. It’s normal to take some time getting used to your new look and ease yourself into wig-wearing.

“Don’t be afraid to experiment with different hairstyles. It’s worth putting in some time and energy. You’ll soon discover what you like and what suits you best.”

Matching a human hair wig to your outfit

Like many people experiencing the capricious nature of hair loss, Jenn chose to hide it under a baseball cap almost daily. And while baseball caps go well with the regular mom uniform of t-shirts, leggings, and tennis shoes, they don’t befit a cocktail dress and heels for a special night out.

“Before I wore wigs I wore a lot of baseball caps to try and cover my hair loss. I would always try to dress very casual to match the aesthetic of my cap. But wearing wigs has allowed me to elevate my style and really get into makeup and beauty again,” Jenn enthuses.

Most people enjoy having an excuse to get dressed up and feel special now and again and having your hair look and feel the part can help complete the outfit. When you feel confident you radiate beauty, and everyone in the room will notice.

Jenn used to avoid parties and social gatherings because she lacked the confidence to be the bubbly person she knew herself to truly be. Her focus was on her hair loss and how to cover it. There wasn’t time and space in her life for social events, and she certainly didn’t want anyone to notice her thinning hair.

All that changed when Jenn found her first Follea wig from Daniel Alain. “I never thought I would see myself with what looked like so much hair coming out of my head,” says Jenn. “Now I love getting dressed up to go out and feeling glamorous. Wigs have allowed me to rediscover that part of my life I thought I had lost.”

Wearing your human hair wig to work

Jenn---RN

Jenn works as a Pediatric RN in a busy hospital. Wearing her wigs to work has become an afterthought as she gets ready for a shift, but in the early days of wig-wearing, Jenn questioned if her wig would be able to resist the strong fingers and mighty fists of her tiny patients.

“My job can get pretty demanding with little kids. Oftentimes, we're working with patients who will tug on our clothes or our hair. At first I was a little nervous going to work with a wig every day. But it's proven not an issue at all as long as you have a wig that fits well and is properly secured,” says Jenn.

Whatever your job, a wig must be comfortable and secure all day long. Jenn enjoys testing the limits of her wigs outside of work hours by jumping on trampolines, bouncing on bounce houses, and riding roller coasters. There was even an incident with a leaf blower (no, her wig didn’t blow off). “I know that if my wig stays on my head through those crazy antics, there’s no way it’ll come off at work. Wearing wigs doesn’t hold me back from anything,” Jenn laughs.

Ready to discover the versatility of Follea wigs by Daniel Alain for yourself?

Before finding Follea wigs by Daniel Alain, Jenn lived a life controlled by hair loss. She gave up so much of herself that she hardly recognized who she had become. She couldn’t be the strong, confident role model her children needed, didn’t enjoy going on dates with her husband, and shied away from the limelight. Finding her dream hair changed that.

While it may not be for everyone, being open and honest about her wig-wearing has helped Jenn embrace the versatility of wigs. Jenn gets maximum enjoyment from changing her look, color, and style day to day and she feels like she’s living true to herself. Jenn has discovered that wigs are full of life.
