The Petite v. Trend Topper: Which is Right for You?

When you start to notice your hair thinning, you may begin to wonder what options you have. You may consider trying different products or new styles to hide any problem spots. After a while, you may get tired of trying to style your hair in new ways. Perhaps you’re not ready for a wig, which would give you a full head of hair. A topper is an excellent hairpiece that provides partial coverage and can easily cover early to moderate stages of thinning.

At Daniel Alain, we recommend a hair topper for anyone experiencing Stages 1-3 of hair loss. [include visuals] Though we’re known for our 100% European human hair wigs, we also make 100% European human hair toppers. If you’re in the earliest stages of hair loss and looking for an easy solution, a topper may be what you’ve been searching for. In this article, we’re going to highlight our two best-selling toppers: the Petite and the Trend topper. By the end of this article, you’ll better understand both of these products and be better equipped to make an empowered and informed decision.

What is a topper?

A topper is a hairpiece that sits on the top of your head and provides partial coverage. It is made from a base that is attached to the scalp with clips. The base has hair hand-tied onto it.

While toppers are a great solution for anyone experiencing Stages 1-3 of hair loss, we caution individuals with damaged or fragile hair from using a topper. Because a topper is secured with clips and the clips tend to be attached in the same area, weak or compromised hair will be pulled on. This can create traction alopecia and worsen any existing hair loss.

What Do the Petite and Trend Toppers Have in Common?

The Petite and Trend toppers are designed for different stages of hair loss. Despite this, they do share some commonalities.

Both the Petite and the Trend are made with 100% European hair. They are both 100% hand-tied and feature a lace top. These toppers offer moderate volume at the root as they both feature return hairs.

Now, we'll jump into the differences between these two toppers.

The Petite Topper

The Petite topper is made from 100% fine European hair and features a 100% hand-tied, lace top.

It comes in three lengths: 8, 12, and 16 inches, and is available in 16 colors. The lace top easily blends with your natural hair.

The Base

The base on the Petite topper is very small, measuring only 2.5 in x 5.25 in. It has four clips to attach the base to the top of the head.

How It Feels

The Petite feels very lightweight because of its small size and lace top. It is the most lightweight piece that we offer because of this size and the airiness of the top.

Who is The Petite Topper Best For?

The Petite is an ideal option for anyone who is looking to

add some volume to the top of their head or who is experiencing minimal hair loss. As our smallest topper, it is an excellent way to enhance your look.

If you have fragile hair or need a larger area covered, the Petite may not be the best option for you.

The Trend Topper

The Trend topper is made from 100% fine Screen Shot 2022-04-08 at 10.28.46 AMEuropean hair and features a 100% hand-tied, lace top.

The Trend comes in two lengths: 8 and 14 inches and is available in 16 colors. The lace top easily blends with your natural hairline.

The Base

The base size is 5 in x. 6 in. which is a stock item or available 6 in x.7.5 in through special order.  It has five clips to secure the base to your hair.

How It Feels

The single lace layer makes the Trend a lightweight option that offers the flexibility to conform to your head for maximum comfort.

Who is the Trend Topper Best For?

The Trend is a great option for someone who wants to add to their hair’s volume or is experiencing Stages 1 or 2 of hair loss. Its size is big enough to secure clips to the si

des of the head rather than the top, so you don’t have to worry about fragile hair on the top of your head being pulled on.

Because the Trend is made from a lace top, it does not give the illusion of a scalp. Especially on darker pieces, the Trend is unable to give the illusion of a defined part.
